volunteer accountant

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare day-to-day and month-end close entries including revenue, expenses, accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities
  • Prepare financial reconciliations for necessary balance sheet accounts, various other general ledger accounts
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Required)
  • Discretion and strong ethics
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the public accounting field
  • Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles
  • Advanced understanding of the QuickBooks Accounting System
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extremely detail orientated with strong analytical skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment
  • 5-10 hrs/week commitment

Grant writer

Responsibilities:

  • Research, identify and execute the submission of grant proposals to appropriate foundations, corporate/private donors, trusts and government agencies
  • Develop grant proposals with accuracy and timeliness
  • Assist with donor outreach
  • Develop and maintain a donor database
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with grantors
  • Track and document all communications

Requirements:

  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • High computer competency and proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Bachelor’s degree or progress toward degree completion from an accredited college
  • Passion for speaking to issues of women’s health and drive to ensure that underserved women and girls receive necessary resources to thrive
  • Age 21+

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in grant writing
  • Experience working with a non-profit organization

Public Relations Volunteer

Responsibilities:

  • Identify partnerships and audiences and determine the best approach for communicating with them
  • Develop and maintain the organization’s image and identity, including consistent use of logos and signage
  • Plan and execute/manage special events, such as vending opportunities at conferences, social events to unify and engage the the team, and other events to establish our name in the community and gain public attention through the media
  • Collaborate with the communications manager to draft speeches and prepare press releases
  • Arrange speaking engagements and interviews for the organization’s president
  • Evaluate advertising and promotion programs
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local and municipal government officials and media representatives

Skills Required:

  • Public Relations/Communications degree or progress toward degree
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills
  • Personal commitment and passion for the Be a Rose mission
  • High computer competency and proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Age 21+
  • Availability to work 10+ hours weekly

Data Entry Associate

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative support position
  • Assist in tracking and managing donations
  • Assist in crafting communications
  • Assist in maintaining relevant computer databases, ensuring that all spreadsheets are kept up to date

Requirements:

  • Strong computer competency and proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Proficient typing skills (proven ability to enter data at required speed)
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experience working with confidential, sensitive information
  • High school diploma

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in grant writing
  • Experience working with a non-profit organization
  • Formal computer training
